The practices of Ayurveda dates to 5000 years. This
was the time when Veda Vyas gave the gift of Vedas to humanity. In Vedas, there
is mention of Ayurveda which translates to ‘Science of life’.
Focus in Ayurveda is on balance. It tells us how to
maintain balance in life by changing the food habits. It is a testament to the
ancient Indian medical science that they were able to cure diseases by using
natural herbal extracts. Indian medical practitioners were able to create
Ayurvedic remedies for all the ailments known at that time.
During the Vedic era, the Chakra Samhita was written
which has a total of 120 chapters in it. It concentrates on how a patient
should be judged, and it has been shortened to following ten simple points-
•
Constitution
• Abnormality
• Essence
• Stability
• Body
measurements
• Diet
suitability
• Psychic
strength
• Digestive
capacity
• Physical
fitness
• Age
To study Ayurveda in India, the detailed study of three elements is necessary. They
are the elements of Tridosha- The Vata dosha, Pitta dosha and Kapha Dosha. It
is written in the Ayurvedic text that a balance needs to get established in
these three doshas. Balance leads to a healthy body and an imbalance can cause
illness.
Ayurveda
healing course mentions that medicine has eight
components which deal with the General medicine of the body to rejuvenation and
treatment for ailments in ENT. The techniques of classical Ayurveda specify how
the two out of eight branches deal with surgery whereas contemporary Ayurveda
is more about building a healthy metabolic system. It is about maintaining
proper digestion and excretion.
It is observed that Ayurvedic treatment can help in
the following ways-
• It helps to
lower stress and Anxiety.
• It lowers
blood pressure and Cholesterol.
• It can aid
in recovery from injuries and illness
• It reduces
inflammation in the body.
• It balances
hormones in the body.
