Ayurvedic Head Massage- More than just a head massage

Indian head massage training is an Ayurvedic technique that has been practised in India for over a thousand years. It is a pleasantly relaxing therapy that involves massage of the head, neck, face and shoulders. This massage is very safe, easy to learn and very effective. It provides relief from pain, anxiety and stress and gives you a deep sense of calmness and peace.

This technique was originally used by Indian women to keep their hair shiny, healthy, thick and lustrous as the massage activates the growth hormones of the scalp which nourish and grow the hair from roots.

Traditionally, in India, a head massage is given right from the birth using oils. There is a Soft Spot located at the top of a baby’s head. This is a slight opening between the two bones of the shell which is covered by a membrane. This space does not join fully until the baby is nine months old. During this stage of baby’s life, the head massage with nourishing oils can directly affect the growth and development of both the brain and the eyesight.

Indian mothers also place an Ayurvedic oil-soaked piece of cotton on their baby’s head to provide as much nourishment to its brain as possible. Other than this, there are several other advantages of Indian head massage therapy. These include-
  1. stimulating the three major chakras to help restore and balance mind, body and spirit
  2. increasing the secretion of hormones which are necessary for the growth and development of the brain
