How is treatment done using the Ayurvedic medical system?

Ayurveda has been part of the Indian tradition and medicine for the past 5000 years. It is derived from a Sanskrit word which translates to “the science of life”. The ayurvedic text is also present in the Vedic texts of ancient India with focus on health, healing illness, preventing diseases, and promoting rejuvenation, longevity.

In Ayurveda, there are seven primary tissues- plasma, blood, muscles, fat, bone, marrow and semen. It also names three elemental substances which are the doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). A balance of these three doshas results in good health while an imbalance can cause diseases in the body.

It has emerged as one of the top career choices, and there are a lot of options for aspirants. Ayurveda colleges in India provide the opportunity to pursue courses like B.A.M.S (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery)

The popularity of Ayurveda in the west has grown tremendously, and students from all over the world come to India to learn authentic Ayurvedic practises. South India has multiple hubs where Ayurveda is taught, and states like Kerala are primarily known for it.

Ayurveda is seen as the best alternative to allopathy as there are no side-effects to the treatment. Although Ayurveda is a treatment system, it involves a systematic approach for the treatment of diseases. Physical examination, diagnosis of conditions, prescriptions for lifestyle changes, Panchakarma, yoga, meditation, and treatment with herbal medicines are all part of Ayurvedic training which is given to students in India.

Before choosing an institute, it is essential to check the following-

•The record of the college and reviews of the previous students.

•The teaching methods which are used to impart knowledge.

•The Ayurvedic techniques taught in the college.
