An Introduction to Ayurveda and its courses

Ayurveda, an ancient knowledge of life practised by saints and sages, was not familiar to common people a few decades ago. It is now a widely known and most accepted medical science which is used to cure any common or severe disease with the help of herbs and herbal medicines. Ayurvedic treatments are based on medicines, massages, therapies, exercises addressing the body, mind and spirit, which is unique to every person and is essential for wellbeing.

Ayurveda focusses on the wellbeing and rejuvenation of body and the vision of body, mind and spirit as one and its natural way to approach the illness and diseases make it different from other medical practices.

The crucial principles of Ayurveda came into effect from 1500 BC. According to the Ayurveda, our body is a part of mother nature; it is a microcosm of the universe. Our body has a self-regulating healing system inside it that works and is capable enough to deal with almost all problems in a natural way. But due to stress, lack of adequate nutrition, bacteria and viruses, our immune system becomes weak and this lead to malfunctioning of organs. Ayurveda medicine helps to make our immune system strong so that it can fight with various diseases in a natural way without the intake of allopathic medicines.

According to Ayurveda, our universe is made up of five elements of air, water, fire, space and earth, which is also known as Panchabuthas. Every living being is a composition of Panchbuthas and is represented by it.

Ayurveda is not just meant to identify the symptoms of a disease, but it looks at the body as a whole and treats various other issues along with the concerned disease. Primary areas of Ayurveda studies and training includes its theories, identification of strength of body, treatment procedures and different massages. There are a number of Ayurveda colleges in India that specialises in various courses like Indian head massage, somatic body therapy, rope massage, sound healing, etc., these institutes offer both short and long-term ayurvedic training programs and ayurvedic courses.
